1-DAY DIRT RIDERS - Spring

Dirt Rider Spring Kindergarten – 5th Grade

Introduction to mountain biking on trails and fun!

Dirt Riders is an 8-week (1 day/week) program offered during the spring session which introduces young riders (Kindergarten – 5th grade) to the sport of mountain biking through singletrack riding on Open Space trails in Boulder.

This program is geared towards beginner mountain bikers who want to learn how to ride mountain bikes on singletrack trails with varying terrain. Each week, coaches work with athletes to learn skills necessary to safely navigate trails and practice proper trail etiquette on multi-use trails. Through fun afternoon rides and an encouraging environment, athletes build confidence on their bikes, make new friends, and explore some trails around Boulder.

Each week young athletes have the opportunity to learn and practice the following basic bike handling skills on trails: looking ahead, braking, shifting, balance/proper form, getting started, riding over rocks, roots, and cattleguards, standing up on pedals, trail etiquette and bike terminology.

The Dirt Riders groups typically meet and ride at the following locations: Boulder Valley Ranch, Marshall Mesa, Doudy Draw, Valmont Bike Park, and Heil Ranch (Schoolhouse Loop & Overland Trail).
