HS League Prep

Build skills and FUNdamentals

High School Season Prep is a program for athletes who are entering or returning to the High School Racing season that want to build foundational mountain bike skills at the beginning of the season.

This six hour, 1.5 hours over 4 sessions, High School Season Prep program provides dedicated skill instruction specifically designed to help new riders learn techniques to successfully and safely start mountain biking with their respective High School. The program is offered on Mondays or Tuesdays to accommodate the different schools training ride schedules. This supplemental program focuses on mountain bike basics, climbing, descending, braking and cornering. Riders from all teams are welcome. No riding experience is necessary.

Rides are organized around a progression of skills over the course of the four sessions; and emphasize having fun. Rides will be held at trails and parks around Boulder.

Athletes must be comfortable balancing, pedaling, braking, and riding on natural surface trails. To ride the trails safely, athletes must have a properly fitting, trail-ready mountain bike in good working condition. Athletes should also have a comfortable hydration pack or backpack with a water reservoir (e.g. camelback) and enough space to hold snacks, water, a jacket for colder weather conditions, and equipment necessary to change a flat tire and make minor trail-side repairs/adjustments.
